COLFAX PUBLIC LIBRARY

Building Remodel Project
A $40,000 Challenge and We’re Almost Half Way There!
In February we announced our best fundraising opportunity yet… an alumni donor who will match all donations to the Elevator Project made this year, up to the amount of $40,000.
Thanks to your response, $14,537 qualifying dollars has been raised so far. If matching funds are included, a total of $192,544 has been donated.
Recent donations include memorials for Jenny Dervin, Ken Tape, Eugene Close, Olin Sundby, Hans and Klara Jensen, and Elaine Knutson. An alumnus from the class of 1969 made a memorial donation for deceased classmates Cindy (Newmann) Kuiper, Steve Olson, and Linda (Toycen) Dachel. Another donor mentioned fond memories of Saturday mornings at the library and the movies upstairs. And the Sweet Adelines – Red Cedar Sounds donated $700 from a concert they held.
Our fundraising has been ongoing since 2018. To get this far, we’ve held thrift sales, bake sales, and events upstairs, but most of the money came to us bit by bit as small (often memorial) donations from individual community members. Typically, these donors love the history of the building and have fond memories of their earlier lives in Colfax. They want to see this familiar and still useful Colfax landmark brought into the future so it can keep serving the community well.
We’ve kept careful records of all memorial and other donations and plan to acknowledge everyone’s contributions in a memory book for the building. There will also be wall plaques to commemorate major donors and their families.
Whether you’ve donated before or are considering becoming a first-time donor, this is a great time to do it. Your money will be doubled 🙂.
Thank you so much for any and all support!!

We need you!
Fund-Raising Effort
As of 4/24/25 we have $192,544 saved but require $700,000 for the total project. The library is applying for grants and the village may be able to help with some of the cost, but we are hoping to raise as much money as possible through donations. We have a fund-raising account set up to keep savings; it has village oversight but is designated for this project only.
